Why Junior Mandarin Class?
The early years are when language comes most naturally. Children soak up sounds, words and rhythm long before they are "studying" anything, and a parent-accompanied playgroup style class makes the most of that window.
- A head start on bilingualism. Regular, joyful exposure builds the listening ear and vocabulary that make later learning far easier.
- Learning through play. Songs, stories and games keep children motivated and happy, not drilled.
- You learn together. With you in the room, the Mandarin carries home, and you pick up words and rhymes to use through the week.
- Confidence and connection. Little ones build social skills, routine and a genuine love of Mandarin from the very start.

Our Mandarin Playgroup at Craig Family Centre in Ashburton has welcomed families for nearly ten years — a gentle, all-Mandarin morning of stories, songs, music and movement, with room to explore both indoors and out in the garden.
Created and run by experienced educators, it’s a warm, unhurried space where little ones move, discover and grow in confidence, soaking up the language naturally alongside you. We’d love to welcome you — come and play with us.
